On Friday, March 29 at 6 PM, the Bass Harbor Memorial Library presents:
St. Frances and the Fallen Angels : A One-Act Play by Carolyn Gage
This is a play about Frances Perkins, the Secretary of Labor under FDR, and her superhuman achievement of the Social Security Act of 1935. It is a story about two women in love, about the ghosts of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire, and a true Christmas miracle. This is a play about social justice work: the price and the promise.
Cast members are Sarah Johnson, Cindy Robbins, Katie Migdal, and Sara Jones, with Cherie Magnello reading the stage directions. Weslea Sidon and Phil Kell will present a program of Labor Union songs from the Depression Era. The play runs about 40 minutes. There will also be a Question & Answer with the playwright and the cast, as well as refreshments.
Please join us Friday, March 29 at 6 PM at the Tremont Consolidated School Community Building.
The event is free to the public. No registration is necessary. Donations will be gladly accepted.
