Second Annual Ruth Moore Invitational Poetry Slam with Guest MC Gary Lawless
Wednesday, July 17, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
Open call to all interested writers to read poetry or passages by Ruth Moore, or write and share your poems and stories. Readings start at 5:30 and run until done. For more information, or to sign up to present your work, please contact bob.delsandro@bassharborlibrary.com
Gary Lawless is a poet, co-owner of Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick, and owner of the publishing company Blackberry Books in Nobleboro.
Words for Generations: Keeping the Literary Legacy of Ruth Moore Alive
Friday, July 19th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
Dean Lunt, editor-in-chief of Maine-based publishing company Islandport Press, wil speak on Islandport’s commitment to reissuing select Ruth Moore works and the unique challenges of marketing and selling mid-century novels to the modern reader. By striking a balance between current trends in design and subject, with Moore’s carefully crafted worlds, Islandport Press strives to ensure Moore’s work remains as relevant to readers today-and in the future-as it did eighty years ago.

Saturday, July 20th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
Dennis Damon, friends, and al welcomed participants share their favorite writings and stories of our favorite Maine writer from the village of Gotts Island.
Afterward, we’ll conclude the evening with another spectacular Ruth Moore-themed birthday cake baked by Board Member, Kathie Pratt.
